Personal Statement By The Award Program Owner
I will be using my skills as a professionally qualified graphic designer to assess submissions. As an art editor, I have viewed and critiqued many illustrators and photographers portfolios, commissioned art and designed magazines for publishing houses, B.B.C and Haymarket. I am also the webmistress and designer of my own site Firestarter Pyrography which is dedicated to the unusual and fascinating art of wood burning. From March 2006 I began to work in website development designing sites for others and presently own my own small company called Spiral Pixel. 2007 saw the introduction of my blog, Jo's Web where I offer lots of free creative goodies from Photoshop tutorials to free downloads and also the latest art and design news.

Aiko Timmer

Hello, I am Aiko Timmer. from Vlagtwedde in the beautiful province of Groningen in the Netherlands. After designing my own site about the genealogy of my family I developed a keen interest in web design. Through my involvement with ratings programs and their respective forums I have now gained a sound knowledge of html and javascript. I have also become an evaluator for several programs an experience which has developed my skill in assessing sites and to recognise the 'soul' of the designer through the contents of their pages. I am also a member of several ethics programs and Director of Services for Apex.

Erin Whalen

Firstly, I'd like to thank Joanne Phillips for inviting me to become one of her evaluators. I recently started my own small web-design business and currently have 15 sites on the WWW and 10 more in development. I have been designing web sites for almost 7 years, working in XHTML 1.0 Transitional, CSS, Java Script and PHP and validate using CSE-HTML and W3C. I also develop my own graphics and have experience using Photo Shop, Photo Shop Elements and Paint Shop Pro.I am the owner of VSDA and Apirs. I also evaluate for the Korea Award Program and Astral Awards. As an Evaluator, I try and provide detailed feedback that is objective as well as encouraging. I hope, in some small way, that my feedback helps the applicants and that I can give back to the Awards community all that it has given to me.
